The Logicom Cyprus Marathon is fast approaching, and this year it will be celebrating its 20th Anniversary in Pafos. Logicom Public Ltd will once again be the official sponsor of this colorful running event on Sunday 4th March 2018.
The Logicom Cyprus Marathon is the oldest Marathon in the history of Cyprus. This year, it is expected to host more than 2.500 runners from 50 different countries, and the event has already almost sold out.
The marathon itself begins at the scenic Aphrodite's Rock, and ends at the Pafos Medieval Fort, and offers participants fluid stations across the course, as well as, entertainment and nourishment at the finish line. As part of its 20 year celebrations, runners will also enjoy a few additional surprises from the organizers.
Logicom's Group CFO & Deputy Managing Director, Anthoulis Papachristoforou, expressed his anticipation for the event, stating that "We are proud to see how much the Logicom Cyprus Marathon has grown since we first began our partnership with them, and we are happy to once again lend the Logicom name to this highly professional, multi-cultural running festival. Logicom is looking forward to join runners from all across the world with our own record-breaking running team of almost 400 people. We will be hosting guests from the many countries in which we operate, and are eager to showcase what our beautiful island in the Mediterranean has to offer."
Stavros Kakourides, Race Director of the Logicom Cyprus Marathon, said: "It is with great pleasure that we will be welcoming more than 2.500 runners to explore historic and breathtaking scenery, starting at the Pafos Medieval Fort Square. It is a day where people from more than 50 countries will come together to celebrate the human spirit in an active and healthy way and we are thrilled to be able to offer such a platform. It is an honour to have Logicom as a partner for the 4th consecutive year and their commitment has helped us bring the Logicom Cyprus Marathon to the highest of standards."
The Logicom Cyprus Marathon is dedicated to Pafos-born Stelios Kyriakides who won the Boston Marathon in 1946. His achievement fueled American donations and he arrived back to war-ravaged Greece with USD 250.000 and two ships full of food, clothes and medical supplies.
